FAQ

There are a few questions I hear quite often, so thought I would share them with you.

What should we be looking for when searching for a Wedding Photographer?

I think the most important thing to consider when you’re looking for a photographer is trust.

No matter who you hire, mutual trust between yourself and your photographer is so important.

So, do a bit of research, and find a photographer who has a style which you absolutely love.  Someone who you know you can trust to capture your day.

That way, you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy all the moments of your special day, knowing that the photographer you’ve chosen is snapping away capturing the story of it all, in a way which will be perfect for you.

How would you describe your style of shooting?

I kinda like to think of myself as a ninja on the day. I have a completely unobtrusive style of shooting, and try my best to remain invisible where I can. I want to be able to capture you – exactly as you are on the day – without putting you into awkward poses or making you feel uncomfortable. I want to capture the real joy, tears, laughter, happiness, and love.

I love the idea that, whether it be months, a year, or even a decade from now, you will look back at these photos once again and remember all the little stories and feelings from your day.

We would love you to shoot our wedding! How do we hire you?

Great! 🙂

Simply get in touch via the contact form on my website, and don’t forget to tell me a little bit about yourselves and they day you’re planning. I’d love to hear all about it.

How many photographer's will we get to cover our day?

Usually I will shoot weddings entirely on my own. So you’ll just be getting me ( Emily, hello 🙂 )

However, if you would like the option of having a second shooter for your day, let me know and I will see what I can arrange for you.

Are you willing to travel?

Absolutely! In fact, most weddings I shoot are often outside of Wellington.

Just send me an email and let me know when/where you’re special day will be, and I will see what I can do for you.

Once we've booked you in, what happens next?

Usually, I like to meet up with my couples at least twice before their wedding day. Thanks to Skype, this is possible no matter where in the world they might be based! I like to get to know my couples as much as I can before their day.

On top of that, I will do a full scout of the wedding venue and surrounding areas, usually in the couple of weeks leading up to the day (so that the landscape and surrounds is generally the same!)

This way, I can get to know the place well and have in mind some beautiful spots for photos.

I like to keep my couples involved in this process also, so if you’re nearby you can join me on the scout and find some cool spots that you really love too.

When is the best time for portraits? We love golden light!

I absolutely love shooting portraits in golden light. The best time for this light is usually within the hour before sunset ( you can see why they call it the magic hour 😉 ).

Usually, during the reception then the light starts looking mint, I will often tap my couple on the shoulder to see whether they’d be interested in sneaking out for 10 minutes for some pretty golden photos.

This is always a great idea, not only will it provide an opportunity for some amazing photos, it also gives the couple a chance to spend a quiet moment alone together amongst all the busyness of the day!

What if it rains on our wedding day?

This is all part of the job! If it does rain on your day, never fear! When scouting your wedding venue for photo locations, I will always be keeping an eye out for dry backup options in case of a downpour.

If you are willing to venture outside, rain actually looks amazing in images! The light that comes with rain is always beautiful and soft, and the texture it provides can make for some incredible photographs.

How soon can we expect our photos to arrive?

You will receive a pretty little parcel of goodies within 6-8 weeks of your wedding day.
