2015/2016 wedding season
This year will mark the 5 year anniversary since I decided to start up my own little business. I was 21 at the time and I had a notebook, a Canon 60D, a nifty 50mm 1.8, and a head swimming with crazy ideas.
At the time, I was spending as much time as possible with the camera glued to my hands. I had a goal where every day I would take a walk and take photos of everything I saw along the way. Eventually, as I got braver, I would ask people I met if I could photograph them… Friends, family, friends-of-friends, friends-of-friends-of-friends, strangers I met in shops (true story!) I loved what I was doing so much , every day I was learning more about my camera and what sort of tricks it had up it’s sleeve.
At the time, I never imagined how much I would fall in love with wedding photography. I started Clipic intent on pushing myself as a fashion photographer and filmmaker. Now, 5 years later, the thrill of being let in to the lives of all sorts of couples, entrusted to re-tell their story for them through a camera… I love what I do. And for that I am so lucky.
For the past 4 months since I photographed my final wedding of the 2015/2016 season, I have been hard at work on another feature film here in New Zealand. With a bit of down-time over the past week before I disappear overseas for the next job, I have gathered some highlights from my wedding season just been. Below are some moments with the wonderful couples who let me into their special day this summer, entrusting me to capture their story.
Thank you to each and every one of my amazing couples – working with such kick-ass, down-to-earth people makes me feel like the luckiest wedding photographer in the universe.
